I’m Shujat Ali Abbasi, and this website is where I share the true stories from a career spent keeping aircraft safe in the sky.

My journey in aviation began in 1969–1970, training at the Pakistan Air Force School of Aeronautics in Korangi Creek, Karachi. From there, I worked my way up from aviation helper and apprentice trainee to Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, spending my early years with the Department of Plant Protection in Pakistan’s Ministry of Agriculture — working on aircraft like the DHC-2 Beaver, the Fletcher FU-24, and the Cessna 185.

In 1979, I joined Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) as an Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic. Over the next three decades, I earned my FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification in the United States, worked my way up to Certified Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic, and eventually became a Senior Aircraft Maintenance Planner and Controller. Along the way, I worked hands-on with nearly every aircraft in the fleet — the Boeing 707, 720, 737, and 747, the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar, the Airbus A300 and A320, and the MD-90.

After retiring from Saudia, I returned home to Karachi, where I served as Manager of Quality Assurance for a pilot training school and helped establish an aircraft maintenance training school as General Manager of Quality Assurance.

Today, my focus is guiding and counseling the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals. On this site, you’ll find:
